Cheboygan Memorial Health Center Medical Office Building Cheboygan, Michigan The
Cheboygan Memorial Medical Center was exactly what the community needed. The first
floor of the building houses outpatient radiology services, and urgent care clinic,
outpatient laboratory, oncology, EEG/EKG/PFT diagnostic services, a
conference/community room and a gift shop. The second floor holds nurse
practitioners and family practice physicians, while the third floor is occupied
by internal medicine practitoners. One
of the elements that makes this hospital unique is the Cheboygan River located across
the street. A large amount of glass work was used in the waiting area to create a
pleasant and calming view of the river. The green glass also picks up the reflection
of the river and creates a soft green glow. One
of the unique challenges was building a three-story structure with a basement on
poor soils and a high water table. Noise and vibrations had to be controlled
since construction was taking place during sensitive OR procedures. Constant
radio contact had to be maintained between the construction manager and the OR
staff to coordinate periodic shutdowns of large construction equipment. The
Cheboygan Memorial Health Center has been a great addition to the community.
Residents will now be able to stay close to home to receive medical care.
