The Farbman Group embarked on a partnership with Oakwood Health System and their physician participants and a surgical provider, Visionary Enterprises Incorporated (VEI). Together, they developed a medical model for the Dearborn Park Medical Center. Addressing patient sensitivity, along with increased demand for surgical space, were top priorities for the project.

The surgery center provides hospitality styled environments for patients and guests. Patient spaces are treated with soft finishes and soothing colors. Patient prep and recovery are provided in private rooms. This concept allows families to be with their loved ones in a private environment during their entire preparatory and recovery stay, thus reducing anxiety. While the patient is having the surgical procedure performed, the family is directed to the family hospitality center, which is more like a family room. Occasional seating, lighting, and art fulfill the need to again reduce anxiety during the procedure.

At Dearborn Park, back of the house surgical support and staff areas are treated just as well as the patient focused areas. The staff lounge is much like a restaurant and the staff locker rooms feel more like those at a country club.

The Ambulatory Surgery Center at Dearborn Park has been received so well that the concepts embodied in it are being carried forward into designs for Diagnostic Imaging, Breast Imaging, Oncology, and Fitness/Wellness.
