Lapeer Surgery Center Ambulatory Surgical Center Mayfield Township, Michigan Supporting growth
trends in Lapeer County, a number of private practice surgical groups have combined their efforts to develop a new surgical service model,
offering residents of Lapeer and North Oakland Counties a simple and accessible alternative to ambulatory surgery. The facility, named Lapeer
Surgery Center is a 22,000 square foot outpatient surgery and treatment center and is being constructed on the northwest side of Lapeer.
Designed to support a wide range of surgical services, the center is being with four universal operating suites as a base, with two additional
procedure rooms for minor procedures and endoscopy. The Lapeer
Surgical Center is designed with three customers in mind: Certainly the patient, their family and friends attending, and the surgeons
and staff. It is important to keep all of these stakeholders impressed with the center as it takes all of them to continue a profitable
and high quality center. Thus areas servicing all of these participants are designed to the same level. The facility
will feature a combined preparatory/recovery center with partially private patient cubicles. The intent is for the patient to start
and return to the same prep/recovery space, and make the environment of this area welcoming to those who come with the patient. Family
support is extended to the Waiting area which features a sophisticated family room type environment complete with hospitality
accommodations. Appropriate clinical support, surgeon and staff hospitality, and business function areas round out the design of
this facility. As part
of the patient care approach, the surgical center features separated entrance and discharge locations, each with covered canopies.
The building is constructed of brick and stone. A curved wall in the front provides an attitude of caring, while the overall
architecture promotes a sense of strength and permanence.
