Lansing Community College Technical Training Center, M-TEC Facility Delta Township, Michigan The
new 262,000 square foot Manufacturing Technological Education Center and Technical
Training Center (M-TEC/TTC) facility provides instructional and support space for
technical programs offered by Lansing Community College as well as M-TEC training. A
joint effort of the College and the State of Michigan, the M-TEC program is designed
to train workers in high-skill, high-wage and high-demand occupations, specifically
tailored to meet the needs of local businesses. The
center’s training specifically targets workers in information technology, construction,
manufacturing and automotive occupations. The center also houses other LCC technical
training programs including architecture, interior design, agriculture and horticulture. The
Technical Training Center incorporates geothermal heating and cooling for most of the
262,000 square foot building. Two hundred and fifty wells located under the parking
lot were installed to a depth of 250 feet and incorporate a continuous loop of tubing
containing heat transfer liquid, which is connected to approximately 150 water to air
heat pumps throughout the facility. All finish materials were selected for their
durability and long life, which will reduce replacement and maintenance costs.
