Midtown Square Troy, Michigan
Long-term
growth and prosperity of the Troy community was the motivation
for this large retail development located at the southwest corner of Maple and
Coolidge Roads in the City of Troy, Michigan. The development includes both small
and large-scale retail, a major movie theatre complex ,offices, and 300 condominiums,
surrounding a major transport center.
The new large scale
intermodal center serves the Birmingham, Somerset, Troy and Royal Oak communities. The
facility includes Amtrak rail access, scheduled bus services to the major airports,
Metro and rental car services, and a 500-car parking garage covering the entire transport
center.
The design of the
intermodal center provides solutions for the security issues inherent in such a facility.
A signature “transport arch” design feature provides the central image and identification
of access and location.
The design
incorporates a campus plan recognizing and focusing on the neighbors of the development.
Coolidge is a major commercial road, warranting the commercial focus as well as serving
as the main project entrance. Across Maple Road lies an upscale Birmingham neighborhood,
therefore the residential aspect of the building is sited on this section of the
property.
