Wieland Davco Corporation Headquarters Building Lansing, Michigan The
Wieland-Davco Corporation’s new headquarters is located on English Oak Drive in the
Oakwood Executive Park. The 27,000 square foot building is situated on the heavily
treed site with minimal change to the natural grade and only selective tree removal.
Access to the building from the parking lot is by a cast-in-place concrete bridge with
stainless steel railings that winds its way through the trees to the main entrance.
The
main lobby is 22 feet high to the exposed roof structure with full height glazed
curtain walls that provide views of the trees that surround the building. The lobby
features a full height wall of polished black granite that provides a dramatic
contrast to the open views of the exterior.
The
building’s interior is comprised of an open plan with very few walls that extend to the
roof. The structure is left exposed, as is the building infrastructure. Interior
lighting is accomplished primarily with suspended and wall mounted indirect fixtures
throughout. The building is a steel frame with metal stud infill and pre-finished
composite metal panels.
There
is a significant amount of glazed curtain wall to provide abundant daylight to the
interior. The glass and metal exterior surfaces provide a striking contrast to the
heavily treed surroundings.
