Our Foundation
In 1965, William S. Hobbs turned his high school dream into reality by founding Hobbs+Black Architects. The firm began with a commitment to client-focused design and architectural innovation, laying the groundwork for a lasting legacy. The partnership between William S. Hobbs and Richard Black in 1967 marked a pivotal chapter in our history.

Marking Our Presence
Our growth led to the transformation of the "old stone church" in downtown Ann Arbor. This project, completed in 1986, exemplified our ability to blend historic architecture with modern design, becoming a hallmark of our innovative ethos.
