Our History
DESIGNING THE FUTURE SINCE 1965
In 1965, the collaboration between William S. Hobbs and Richard Black laid the foundation for Hobbs+Black Architects, setting the stage for innovative and client-centric architecture. The transformative "old stone church" project in 1986 exemplified our ability to merge history with modern design, becoming a symbol of our influence.
Expanding into key cities like Lansing, Phoenix, and Detroit, Hobbs+Black shared its unique architectural approach nationwide. The name "Hobbs+Black" embodies not just our founding vision but also the unity that originated with the partnership of William S. Hobbs and Richard Black.
Today, as Betsy Hobbs Wagner assumes the role of President, our legacy endures. With 25 years of contributions, Betsy embodies our history and guides us towards new horizons.
