McLaren Oakland has been providing medical care to the Oxford community for several decades from a building they have outgrown. In partnership with McLaren we developed a program to replace and expand services with a new building to serve the needs of the community. The site is master planned for future growth with options for a connected or disconnected building addition.
The first phase includes the following services: Freestanding Emergency Department, Radiology, Lab, Physical Therapy, Oncology/Infusion, and multiple provider clinics. The planning is a continuation of previous similar programs for McLaren in Clarkston, West Branch and Fenton and provides for flexibility and connectivity between departments.
The building exterior is designed to incorporate and extend the evolving McLaren brand image. The blue palette has its origins in the corporate headquarters and was previously implemented at West Branch and other sites. The brick portion of the building brings in the new McLaren Greater Lansing campus with a glass entrance feature that ties the ensemble together into a comprehensive experience. The interior planning provides front facing clinics with open waiting areas on the front of the building. This allows the interior design to showcase an open stair and elevator core with easy wayfinding for patients.
