Healthcare Studio Architect / Project Manager
We work with a variety of healthcare providers in diverse environments including senior living, hospitals, emergency rooms, urgent care, medical office buildings, imaging centers, and laboratories.
Job Summary
In this position, you will research, program, plan, design, and administer building projects for Hobbs+Black Architects clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, FGI and Life Safety Code, and building materials and systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversees a team of architects to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
Delegates work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.
Duties and Responsibilities
Interfaces with principals, project managers, project teams, consultants, and clients.
Works in tandem with highly collaborative multi-discipline design teams.
Experience with shop drawings and developing as-built drawings.
Creates detailed plans for complex architectural construction drawings.
Identifies and maintains project schedules, cost projections, and budget estimates.
Develop healthcare planning concepts.
Direct, supervise, and confirm activities of project team engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents for the Conceptual Design Phase, Schematic Design Phase, and/or the Detailed Design Phase of projects.
Utilize computer-assisted design software to develop project designs, plans, and technical solutions for projects.
Preparation and coordination of bid packages.
Project documentation creation and coordination of RFIs, change orders, and additional service requests.
Provide code review based on FGI and Life Safety Code.
Conduct site planning and zoning research.
Attend planning and zoning, and/or municipal meetings.
Confer with consultants to ensure standards are met and necessary permits obtained.
Perform construction administration tasks, including submittal review, fieldwork, and documentation.
Develop renderings for project interviews and presentations.
Maintains and complies with Hobbs+Black and client project standards.
Competent project time and expense documentation skills.

Proficient in building codes and ADA requirements.
Knowledge of healthcare planning best practices.
Ability to coordinate MEP and medical equipment consultant work in healthcare environments.
Consistent ability to successfully meet deadlines.
Cost estimating skills preferred.
Effective communication, negotiation, and consulting skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field with technical architecture experience.
8+ years of related work experience is required.
Architectural license highly preferred.
English language communication and client interface skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for sponsorship.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to list up to 15 pounds at a time.
